first_imgEarlier this week members of Chicago’s own Umphrey’s McGee (guitarist Jake Cinninger excluded) were invited to the home of the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field, to take part in some of baseball’s oldest past times: the ceremonial throwing out of the first pitch, the singing of the National Anthem, and finally, leading the crowd through a rendition of “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the seventh inning stretch. No strangers to the Friendly Confines, UM keyboardist Joel Cummins had the honors of throwing out the first pitch before the game and was then joined by guitarist Brendan Bayliss, bassist Ryan Stasik, drummer Kris Meyers and percussionist Andy Farag to take on the duties of the National Anthem and the seventh inning stretch festivities. Thanks to social media, you can check out some sights and sounds from the game below: Well, that was a lot of fun. Cubs are 5-2 with UM singing the anthem for those of you scoring at home.Posted by Kevin Browning on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 …at the old ball game!Posted by Umphrey’s McGee on Wednesday, August 12, 2015last_img
