By John Heinis/Hudson County ViewLeroy Sherrill, 28, of Jersey City, was given several motor vehicle traffic summonses such as failure to stop, careless driving and failure to stop for pedestrian at a crosswalk, according to Police Det. Lt. Edgardo Cruz.On Friday at approximately 10:48 a.m., police received a call for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in the area of 5th and Monroe Streets. Hoboken Uniform and Traffic Bureau were immediately dispatched to the scene along with medical personnel, officials said.A preliminary investigation by the traffic bureau showed the pedestrian was using the crosswalk to cross from east to west on Monroe. The vehicle, a 2017 Honda Accord, was driving South on Monroe Street when he struck the victim, authorities said.The victim, 54, from Union, was pushing a double stroller as she crossed the street, was struck by the vehicle. The children in the stroller were not struck or harmed in anyway and were later released to the parents after receiving precautionary medical attention, police said.The victim, who sustained broken bones and injuries to the leg, face and foot area, was transported to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health for treatment. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative with police, officials said.According to authorities, there did not appear to be any vehicle malfunction or other factors that contributed to the accident other than driver inattention.
